According to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, about 105,000 people cumulatively displaced since June 2019 in particular in Chin, Rakhine , Kayin and Mon States and Tanintharyi Region. There has been a landslide in Paung Township with houses buries and at least five reported deaths. Other townships have had houses and schools washed away, roads blocked and some towns and villages almost completely flooded.
The Paung Ku team supported the affected area immediately after the flood news was issued. Emergency grants were funded to the respective partners from Mon, Kayin, Kachin States and Tanintharyi Division. Paung Ku program officers were getting involved in the field area to provide hand-on helps to partners. They sat together and did the assessment deliberately and collaborated with other Local CSOs who have been associated with responding, so that it can be ensure the assistance reach to the most required zone.
