Andin Community Group has been reforesting Mangrove in their area. They plant mangrove nurseries every two weeks, record the survival rate of the plants monthly and the growth rate every four month with the support from Paung Ku and technical experts from Thailand. For this, the Mon State Government offered them the “Honorary Award for Outstanding Performance in Environmental Conservation” in the Mon National Day ceremony in March 2018.
Furthermore, the community group recorded the data systematically and with guidance from the Academics from Thailand, , Andin Community Group wrote a research paper “Pharlain Community’s Mangrove Forest Regeneration Experience”.
The paper was selected in the International Conference on Burma/ Myanmar organized by the Mandalay University and the Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Six representatives from the Andin community presented the paper in this internationally recognized conference.
