Healing of Memories February 24, 2019

On early February, one of Paung Ku squad teamed up with Metta Development Foundation for a series of events titled “Healing of Memories” led by Fr. Michael Lapsley from South Africa.

The collaborated events started with a 3 days conference in Myitkyina, Kachin State, targeting to around 120 people, mainly church ministers and lay leaders who themselves are IDPs and leading and caring their church members in current conflict context in Kachin and Northern Shan States.

Second event is a Public Talk at Summit Parkview Hotel on 9 February followed by a 3 days’ workshop with CSO actors in Bago. During the workshop, a significant amount of people reflected and shared their stories that they have never shared with anyone before.

One of the participants said that “In the beginning of the workshop, I thought I will not share in depth. But in the small discussion, I somehow feel connected with people and shared all of my story that I have never told to anyone. I felt much lighter and fresh after that.”

After the workshop, Fr. Michael Lapsley run the final 2 days workshop for alumni (participants from previous year) in order to establish a local, Myanmar-based, facilitation team that can provide similar services in future.
